$507 billion plan for solar supergrid

An ambitious euros 400 billion ($507.6 billion) initiative for a pan-continental electricity supergrid powered by a chain of solar farms in the Gulf and North Africa has been unveiled. The grid will be linked to hydro-electric plants in Scandinavia and the European Alps
 

UAE economy to grow by 2.5 pct in 2010

The United Arab Emirates on Monday cut its growth forecast for this year, with Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed al-Mansouri saying the economy would expand by up to 2.5 percent.
